The Incredible Possibilities of Colour in Tapestry Weaving

Beginnings and endings; Woven by Kathe-Todd-Hooker

Tapestry is all about colour usage, colour blending and weaving techniques. The technique focuses on the dot of colour as it crosses in front of a warp and how it relates to whatever is next to it and manipulating the bobbin weft strands to create specific colour changes when using multiple threads on a bobbin. It’s also about mixing a limited number of colours to produce new vibrant colours. However, the technique is not about dyeing yet another colour. It’s more about mixing and blending colours to produce vibrant and subtle colour changes using multiple strands of colour.

This colour theory class covers both bobbin blending and architectural techniques of hatching, hachures, and pick and pick as well as a review of different colour theories and exploration of colour usage in various tapestries. Techniques will focus on bobbin blending and architectural techniques together in one class. The outcome of this class will be a sampler of the various techniques using these colour techniques.

This is a one-on-one zoom classes with Kathe. We will discuss where you are in your tapestry weaving journey and determine an achievable class goal specific to you.  It includes six spaced out classes (typically weekly) of 2 hours each.

Cost of class is $375.00
