Advanced Soumack and friends and all by lines
More line techniques and usage the Beginning intro class. Adding Soumak and friends to tapestry dramatically increases the possibilities of what one can do in a tapestry design. These friends of tapestry-Soumak, rya, twining, pulled loops, chaining, attaching objects to tapestry can be used to add texture effects, create fine lines vertically and horizontally, padded soumack, add dramatic effects to flat surfaces and of course solve problems. But what I like best is they allow a person to draw on the surface of the tapestry in any direction. Many allow for the production double-sided tapestries. Soumak, Friends and family members can also be used on and across any weave structure and on any type of loom. One on one zoom classes with Kathe. 4 spaced out classes of 2 hours each 300.00. Prerequisite of beginning soumak and friends or another beginning class or sampler. E-mail Betweenandetc@comcast.net or call 541-917-3251 for information and more details.

The Incredible Possibilities of Colour in Tapestry
Tapestry is all about colour usage, colour blending and weaving techniques. It’s about the dot of colour as it crosses in front of a warp and how it relates to whatever is next to it and manipulating the bobbin weft strands to create specific colour changes when using multiple threads on a bobbin. It’s about mixing a limited number of colours to produce new vibrant colours. It’s not about dyeing another colour. It’s about mixing and blending colours to produce vibrant and subtle colour changes using multiple strands of colour. This workshop covers both bobbin blending and architectural techniques of hatching,

How to Design and Weave a Tapestry (My way-gr.)
One of the things that I hear constantly when people want to weave tapestry is the self-destructive complaint. I can’t draw or I can’t design, therefore I would love to do tapestry, but I can’t… Over the years, over time and 57 tapestries later. I have created a method for designing tapestry – a method that allows anyone to put together a tapestry design – even those who say they cannot draw. It is based on collage, found images and photo’s and journaling one step at a time, and finding images. Making the images work together-a path to follow- to create uniquely vibrant tapestries. There is nothing magical about it – just an ordered, disciplined approach involving journaling, focusing, taming the squirrelly chaotic thoughts and collage. Students can decide which techniques and looms they wish to explore.
Workshop participants will learn to use and create small looms for shaped pieces, how to insert tapestry into already woven fabrics, how to shape three dimensional pieces.
